Design for Otanimutsumi nintei kodomoen

We designed parts of the interior for Otani Mutsumi Kindergarten in Kitahiroshima, Hokkaido, as part of its reconstruction by JAKUETS Inc. Our work includes roller blinds in the playroom, wallpaper and rugs in the library corner, and class signs for each room.

The roller blinds in the playroom show birds flying across the sky when seen from outside. From inside, small holes at the top let light through, creating a starry sky effect. This room is also used for children’s nap time.

The library corner on the first floor has a birch forest theme. The bookshelf stands on a lake-patterned rug, surrounded by birch trunks. There are hidden details for children to discover, like fish shapes on the lake rug, animal footprints on a grass rug, and insects behind books on the wall.

Each classroom has a class sign made with embroidery and plush toys. The class name is embroidered on wood, with a matching plush toy hanging nearby to make it easy for children to find their room. 株式会社ジャクエツが建て替えを手がけた、北海道北広島市にある大谷むつみ認定こども園のインテリアの一部のデザインを担当しました。遊戯室のロールスクリーン、図書コーナーの壁紙やラグ、各教室のクラスサインなどをデザインしています。

園舎外観からも見えるロールスクリーンは、外から見ると大空に羽ばたく鳥たちが描かれています。 その上部には小さな穴があいており、内側から見ると外からの光を通して星空のように見える仕掛けになっています。この教室は遊戯室になっていて、子どもたちのお昼寝の時間にも使われます。

園舎1階に位置する図書コーナーは白樺の森をモチーフにした空間になっています。湖をイメージしたラグの上の絵本棚は、まわりを白樺の幹が囲むような配置になっており、幹の隙間からは白樺の葉のパターンが一面に広がります。湖のラグには魚のシルエット、草原のラグには動物の足跡が隠れていたり、壁面の絵本をとると虫のイラストが出てきたりと子どもたちが発見してたのしめる仕掛けを散りばめました。

各教室のクラスサインは刺繍とぬいぐるみで表現しています。クラス名は木部に糸の刺繍で表記し、まだ文字が読めない子どもにもわかりやすいように、そのクラス名を表現したぬいぐるみを吊るしました。
