YABANE for GINZA MITSUKOSHI

In March 2022, the textile work "YABANE" was exhibited as store interior decorations at the Lion Stage and 7F Ginza Chandelier Sky of the Ginza Mitsukoshi department store.
This project was held in conjunction with the "TOKYO CREATIVE SALON" and it featured the "YABANE" motif, inspired by the "MEISEN" textile collection owned by Mitsukoshi and based on the theme "RE-CREATION". The traditional YABANE pattern, which was most commonly used on Meisen textiles, has long been associated with the wish to "ward off evil and live happily ever after". This Yabane pattern was used as a timely wish to provide relief in today's unsettling situation. It was also inspired by the bold designs and colors of the pattern recorded on classic Meisen reference materials. 2022年3月に、銀座三越ライオン口ステージ・本館7階銀座シャンデリアスカイにて店内装飾としてテキスタイル作品"YABANE"を展示しました。
「TOKYO CREATIVE SALON」の開催にあわせたこの企画では、"RE-CREATION"というテーマのもと三越が所蔵する「銘仙」の中から、「矢羽根柄」をモチーフにして作品を制作しました。 当時銘仙において最もよく使われたという矢羽根という伝統柄には、古来から「自分の身にかかる災いである魔を破り、幸せに暮らせますように」という願いが込められています。不安定な状況が続く現代において、この矢羽根柄に込められた願いを重ねて制作しています。また、当時の銘仙の資料から大胆な柄の構図や色彩にインスピレーションを受けて制作しました。
