THREADS

There are textiles with a distinct front and back side.Things like kimono obi and ribbons can have detailed, colorful fronts, but a lot of threads are left loose across the back in order to avoid disturbing the front design. Realizing the beauty that can be found in the blend of floating threads which appears on the back of textiles, I designed THREADS, attempting to create a fabric with which this beautiful expression, normally hidden, could be featured. テキスタイルには表と裏をはっきり分けてつくられているものがあります。着物の帯やリボンなどは、表には細やかでカラフルな柄をあしらっていますが、裏側は、表の柄に干渉しないように、よけられた糸がたくさん浮いた状態になっています。この生地の裏側に現れる浮いた糸と糸が混ざり合う部分の美しさに惹かれ、普段隠れているこの美しい表情を主役にした生地ができないかと考え、THREADSをデザインしました。
